The annual Mizzou Pest Management Field Day will be Thursday July 11th at the Bradford Research and Extension Center, approximately 8 miles east of Columbia, Missouri.

As usual, the morning will include guided wagon tours with stops that include presentations of research results by a variety of university scientists. More specifics and a detailed agenda will be provided in the coming weeks.

State extension plant pathologist Dr. Mandy Bish will give an update on the spread and management of tar spot and southern rust of corn, as well as other pressing disease issues in corn and soybean. Dr. Ivair Valmorbida, new state entomologist, will be discussing insect pest sampling, thresholds, and management in soybean.

Lunch will be served at noon after which attendees will have the opportunity to view plots that showcase a variety of herbicide treatments and weed management programs for use in corn and soybean.

Registration for the field day will be $20.00 to cover cost associated with lunch and refreshments. To register call 573-882-4303 or send an e-mail to Heather Nichols (nicholsh@missouri.edu) by June 30th.
