2020 Mizzou Weed Science Virtual Field Day 9:  Effects of Cereal Rye Seeding Rate

We are fortunate to have Mizzou undergrad and Research Assistant Jake Vaughn continue assisting in the program. In this video Jake describes a project he has been involved with over the last 3 years. He discusses the question: How does cereal rye seeding rate affect soybean growth and waterhemp suppression?

As you will see in the video, Jake shares data on soybean stand, height, and yield; cereal rye stand, biomass, and height, and early-season waterhemp suppression with cereal rye seeding rates of 30, 50, 70, 90, or 110 lb/a. He also highlights differences observed when comparing no cereal rye cover crop to a cereal rye cover.
