MU Field Crop Pathology Program to Host Digital Events

In August, the MU Field Crop Plant Pathology program will be hosting two digital events in late August: a Soybean Cyst Nematode Workshop on August 19th at Noon and a pair of Soybean Scouting Schools at Noon and 6pm on August 26th. Details provided below:

Soybean Cyst Nematode Workshop

The SCN workshop will focus on management of soybean cyst nematode, the number one pest of soybeans in the United States accounting for more than $1.2 billion in crop losses each year. A subtle foe, yield losses from this nematode can be as high as 30% in the absence of visual symptoms. This workshop aims to get to the root of the issues around SCN and what (new) tools are available to successfully manage a seemingly invisible pest. The first 100 farmers to register will receive 4 FREE SCN soil samples through the SCN Diagnostics lab at University of Missouri. Code will be provided at the workshop.

Soybean Scouting Schools

Scouting for disease is the first step in developing effective disease management strategies to reduce fungicide resistance development and make economical management decisions for the long term. Diseases covered will range from those found in the early season all the way through harvest with practical scouting and management tips to help make more informed decisions. Come stay ahead of the disease curve at this year's (virtual) Scouting Schools!
