The annual Mizzou Crop and Pest Management Field Day will be Wednesday July 8th at the Bradford Research and Extension Center, approximately 8 miles east of Columbia, Missouri. As a result of a unique collaboration, this year the event is expanding and attendees will have the opportunity to participate in the Missouri Soybean Association's Ag Innovation Showcase after lunch.
Registration will be open by 7:30 a.m. with tour wagons departing no later than 8:30. The morning sessions will include guided wagon tours with stops that include presentations of research results by university scientists. State extension plant pathologist Dr. Mandy Bish will provide an update on fungicide application timing on corn, soil-borne diseases, and EPA's draft fungicide strategy while extension entomologist Dr. Ivair Valmorbida will be discussing defoliation threshold levels in soybean as well as stink bug and corn leafhopper management.
State extension weed scientist Dr. Kevin Bradley will also have a variety of weed management topics included on the tour. Dr. Bradley and his crew will discuss results from some "future-focused" weed management research; recent results from experiments focused on the application of herbicides with drones; a variety of research results and topics pertaining to the management of resistant waterhemp; and several other weed- and herbicide-related topics along the guided tour.
MU Extension's state climatologist Zach Leasor, economist Ben Brown, and soybean agronomist Andre Reis will also be featured at various tour stops during the morning session.
Once the morning tours are complete, attendees will be able to drive or take a shuttle to Missouri Soybean's Farm for Soy Innovation which borders the Bradford research center. A complementary lunch provided by the Missouri soybean association will be provided and then attendees will be able to take part in the "Ag Innovation Showcase" which will include a variety of topics that feature the latest advancements in crop protection, precision technology, and equipment innovation.
As a result of this unique partnership, for the first time there will not be any registration costs associated with attending this event. However, all attendees are asked to pre-register by going to this site by July 3rd so that we can plan for the appropriate amount of food and refreshments.
For certified crop advisors, CEU credits will be awarded.
The Bradford Research and Extension Center is located at 4968 Rangeline Road, Columbia, MO 65201.
