While seed catalogs largely have given way to internet websites, reviewing the new bedding plants introduced each year still is both therapeutic and motivational. The year 2025 witnessed the release of dozens of new annual herbaceous ornamentals. While new may not always better, gardeners might want to trial new varieties and make that determination for themselves. Following is a description of several new bedding plants that should perform well in Missouri.

Flowering annuals such as these petunias provide a virtual "riot" of color all summer long.
