Korean Spice Viburnum 'Compacta'

Korean spice viburnum is one of the 175 species of viburnums and is native to Korea. The dwarf form is displayed in our garden. This variety grows to about 5 feet tall. It is a deciduous shrub that sets clusters of red fruit that fade to black in the fall. These fruit are an important source of food for many birds. The word spice in its name comes from the fragrant flowers that bloom in early spring.
