Thank you for visiting Garden Adventures. I'm Jessica, an Eastern Yellow Swallowtail butterfly. I will be your tour guide and will help you as you explore our garden. Gardens are fun places to work and visit. Nature displays it's full splendor in a garden which changes as seasons change. Exciting adventures wait around every curve in the path and behind every plant, but you have to look closely.
Instructions: Click, tap, or roll your mouse to any of the four season gates to begin your garden adventure. A map of a season garden will appear on your screen. You will see nine sections on each season map. Each map has several unique plants for your observation. You will also find insects and fun facts to explore. Enjoy your adventure!
Gardens come back to life in spring and activity is everywhere. The sun climbs higher in the sky and warms the earth. Days become longer. Seeds sprout, leaves burst from buds, and flowers display their nectar to entice visits from bees and hummingbirds. Insects crawl from their winter hiding places.
Summer is a time of lush beauty. Plants use summer to produce flowers and seeds. Leaves stretch for light and are busy making sugars to nourish the plants. While leaves work they produce oxygen for us and clean pollutants from the air.

Fall is a time of great change in the garden as plants prepare for the coming winter. Plants area able to read shortening days and falling temperatures. These signals cause visible and invisible changes to occur in garden plants. We see some of those changes in the glorious yellow, gold, and red color displays.
Winter in the garden is a time for decreased activity. Plants appear to be sleeping, but are very much alive. Berries and seeds are a welcome winter snack for birds. Sometimes insects come out to sun themselves on warm winter days, but often remain hidden until spring.
