Japanese False Cypress 'Gold Dust'

Gold Dust is a dwarf type of false cypress that is native to central and southern Japan. It is a slow-growing evergreen shrub with a mature height of only 1 to 2 feet. It gets its name because the tips of leaves are dusted with a gold color. This shrub needs well-drained soil and grows best in full sunlight. False cypress wood is lemon-scented and light colored with a rich, straight grain that is used for building temples and shrines in Japan.
