Green Lace

Japanese maples are a species of deciduous shrubs or small trees that can grow 3 to 30 feet tall. Varieties vary for form, color, leaf type, size, and preferred growing conditions. Green lace is one of the varieties displayed in our garden. It is a dome-shaped tree because of its long, strongly cascading branches. Green lace is a slow-growing tree that will only reach 10 feet in height in 50 years. It grows best in moist, well-drained soil. Green lace needs some afternoon shade or its delicate foliage will burn. Its fall colors range from gold, to red, to purple, often all on the same plant.
