Daffodil

Daffodils are native to the Mediterranean. Plants grow to a height of about 12 inches. Long, blue-green, strap-like leaves form in clumps surrounding flower stems. These plants are early spring bloomers and are often found in naturalized settings. Flowers have a trumpet-like protrusion called the corona. The corona can sometimes be a different color than the surrounding petals. These plants produce a substance that is bitter and unappealing to wildlife, making them resistant to a hungry deer or rabbit.
