Mugo Pine

Mugo pine is native to central Europe. The evergreen conifer can be a multi-stemmed shrub or a rounded small tree, reaching a height of 20 feet. Bark is scaly and grey, while 3 inch bright green needles form bundles along branches. Female cones are cylindrical shaped, brown in color, and 2.5 inches long. Male cones are small and yellow or red. Needles can be used to make tea. Buds and cones produce a liquid that can be boiled down to make pine syrup.
