Fragrant Sumac

Fragrant sumac is native to North America. The deciduous shrub grows up to 6 feet tall. Clusters of subtle yellow blooms appear in spring. Flowers are followed by red berries that persist through winter, attracting wildlife. Green leaves turn bright red in autumn. The name comes from the citrus aroma that plant parts emit when crushed. Although related to poison ivy, fragrant sumac is non-poisonous.
