Spiderwort

Spiderwort is native to eastern United States. Plants grow up to 3 feet tall. Flowers appear in clusters from the end of May to the end of July. Three purple petals merge together and yellow stamens create an interesting contrast in color. When broken, stems secrete a thick substance that gets stringy like a spider web when exposed to the air, hence the name spiderwort.
