Bamboo

Bamboo is native to Asia, North America, South America, Africa, and Australia, and is related to other grasses. Plants can be up to 25 feet tall. It is one of the fastest growing plants in the world. Bamboo is also unique in that it rarely flowers. Depending on cultivar, bamboo is used for many different things: culinary purposes, weapons, shelter, furniture, medicine, musical instruments, paper, and yarn. In the garden, bamboo may be invasive and difficult to keep from spreading.
