Balloon Flower

Balloon flower is native to China, Japan, and Korea. Plants reach a height of about 2.5 feet. Floral buds look like inflated balloons before they open into purple star-shaped flowers. For some species, the flower "balloon" never opens. Seed pods of the balloon flower remain on the dried stems during cold winter months.
