Smooth Oxeye ‘Scabra’

Smooth oxeye is native to eastern and central North America. Mature height may be a great as 5 feet. It is an herbaceous perennial that spreads by rhizomes. Flower heads are similar to sunflower. Each head consists of multiple yellow ray flowers joined at the center to a brown disk. The variety in our garden is ‘Scabra’. Leaves of this variety are rough-textured and produce hairs.
